Bike Safety Newport Beach Council Meeting: Tuesday October 9th @ 7pm

"On October 9, 2012 at 7 pm the Newport Beach City Council will vote on a matching funds program. Councilwoman Leslie Daigle and former Cycles Veloce-Team Simple Green member, will propose that for every $1.00 we raise in funds the City will match $3.00, up to a matching limit of $450,000.  If we raise $150,000, the total available for our Bike Safety Improvement Fund will be $600,000. This is a fantastic opportunity to stretch your donation even farther, however we need a strong turnout at this meeting to make sure it happens.

Please attend this meeting to impress upon the Council the need for increased cyclist safety improvements in the city and to support the approval of the match proposal.  Newport Beach has one of the highest counts of cyclists killed or injured in the county and this must stop now.  Together we can make Newport Beach a safer, saner place to ride a bike." - Excerpt from the website. The organization will also be doing a memorial ride on SUNDAY, OCT. 28, 2012, 8 AM

A special Memorial Bike Ride for the cyclists recently killed in Newport Beach will be held on 10/28/12 starting at the Northwest Corner of Santa Rosa and Newport Center Drive at 8:00 am. An additional fundraiser for the Newport Beach Bike Safety Improvement Fund will take place with commemorative T-shirts, wrist bands and a raffle to benefit the Safety Fund.  The purpose of this fund is to kickstart needed safety improvements in the city.
